Glowing Embers

A way to get actively involved in missions

Because God’s passionate heart is yearning for souls from the east to the west to bow themselves in utter worship and reverence to Him, our Lord Jesus left His people with the command to go into every part of the earth and preach the Gospel.    We realize that sometimes, though our hearts burn within us to fulfill that command, the door doesn’t open immediately for us to go.

Adopting a Missionary

Glowing Embers is a way to become actively involved in reaching the world for our Lord Jesus.  When you “adopt a missionary” through Glowing Embers, you will join that missionary’s team of supporters.  Each team is comprised of approximately seven people and a team leader.    Your team leader will send to you monthly up-dates from your missionary as well as the Glowing Embers newsletter.   He will also help to keep you accountable to your commitments with Glowing Embers.  If you have questions or any suggestions of   what your team can do to bless your missionary (i.e. scrapbook, birthday card shower), your team leader is the one you should contact.   By adopting a missionary, you share in their work, and by that become a major part of the warfare for the souls these missionaries are serving among.   Another blessing in adopting a missionary is that you will find your heart staying in tune to God’s heartbeat for souls.

There are three areas of support that you can become involved in today through Glowing Embers:  prayer, communication, and giving financially.    We are not looking for people who will give a half-hearted commitment to these things, nor those who will be neglectful of them after the “novelty” wears off.  Rather, we are looking for soldiers who will sacrificially commit themselves to give their time and resources in supporting and blessing these missionaries.

How Glowing Embers got its name

Daniel Kenaston posed a question to the men at a Bible Class he held in Bunbon, Ghana.  He asked the men on the first day what would be the best way to start cooking fires for the whole village if you only had one match.  The men knew immediately:   “Just start one good fire and let each house come and take a few coals to their own house!”  “We challenged them repeatedly not to think of the classes as just for themselves, but to see themselves as coming to get a few coals to take back to their village churches… The most important thing with the above fire-starting scenario is that there be a strong fire at the center so that others can come and take some back home with them.  Pray that we, along with our more mature leaders can continue to provide  clear leader-ship and anointing as a whole. Rejoice with us in the thrill of these meetings and keep praying for these fire-bearers as they work for God in their own villages.  Pray that His wind will blow upon the fires started until Konkomba Land blazes with His Glory!”
